Kandra Payne
Our guest was author Kandra Payne discussing her book Haunted Creede.
My computer was being a jerk much of the day, so it was not surprising I had to battle it to get into the show, albeit a few minutes late. I got "out of the way" my question of her stage background; her being an Equity stage manager, after working six seasons at the Creede Repertory Theatre. She concurred she did do some acting, but stage fright had her focus on behind-the-scenes stage managing. To do the Creede Ghost Tours. she overcame her stage fright.
Henry had her speak of Jesse James and Bob Ford. Bob Ford's widow Dot's ghost has been sighted, but not Bob Ford, considering his rather carnaged demise, with a close-quarters shotgun blast. Ceiling Cat Barbara Duncan got clarification that many of the appointed "lawmen" at the time actually being criminals themselves.
Now living in Santa Fe, Kandra has become involved working with and doing Santa Fe Ghost Tours.
CC reported having listeners all over the US, the UK, Canada, and Germany.
Kandra discussed her mother's experiences with the Creede Hotel; even her aunt had experienced either a residual haunting or a timeslip.
She also spoke of various haunted houses of Creede, as well as the Rio Grande Hotel. It has since become the local repertory theatre.
Henry brought up the Dwyer House, which may or may not actually be haunted.
