Saturday 08 January 2022 rebroadcast of 04 September 2021
Rich Newman
Tonight our guest was paranormal investigator, multiple book author, and filmmaker Rich Newman.
At the start we lost a few minutes, having run into connection issues again with Centova, the server through which Henry connects through which to broadcast live.
While Rich's Haunted Bridges book bundles such by their "category:" cry-baby bridges, suicide bridges, phantom hitch-hikers, et al, but Rich, at first worried they'd all be "the same," he found there were some intriguiging and distinctive differences.
Henry reminded Rich his last guest appearance was October 2016. Rich spoke about his second book The Ghost Hunter's Field Guide; he has since whittled it down to a new edition titled Passports to the Paranormal.
We lamented how some paranormal locations are no longer available for investigating, or new owners dismiss any concept of previous haunting/s.
Rich doesn't write about haunted cemeteries, so as not to "encourage" possible trespassers, or worse. He spoke of a cemetery investigaton for which they had permission, during which the two could hear a loud sound. but it did not show up on the audio recording.
"Tabby" Cat Snider Gasch had Rich speak of various bed and breakfast places. Rich had worked on a Japanese paranormal show called Nanticore Mysteries, which went all over the United States, to various haunted places, such as the Crescent Hotel, the Queen Mary, et al. Neither Tabby nor I could find anything on the show online.
Rich stayed in Room 217. at the Stanley Hotel.
On investigations, Rich prefers to have only one other person, to prevent EVP contamination.
I spoke of my Queen Mary experience and the EVP I got there. Rich spoke of the ghost of Door 13; when they were filming down there, the temperature dropped significantly, and there were very audible running footsteps towards them. As the ship was used as troop transport during WWII, I posited the ghost of someone in WWII seeing a few Japanese people aboard his ship...
He lamented over how the CCP virus has wrecked travel, putting a damper on going to different haunted locations.
He spoke about the Monte Vista Hotel in Flagstaff, and the Old West, as it were. As Henry indicate a bit of reluctance to returning to Kentucky, Rich recommended the Talbott Tavern in Bardstown. It's next to Jailer's Inn, a bed and breakfast, in which one can sleep in one of the cells.
As we went to wrap, Tabby conveyed our guest next week would be author Jeff Mudget.
