Ghost Towns
As
Henry
started the show, introducing
Ceiling Cat Barbara Duncan
and
me,
I quickly did a Happy
International Fairie Day
Shout Out
(what with June 24th being International Fairie Day an' all...).
Henry reminded people of upcoming
Mid-South,
in Kentucky, and the
September 26th
Hill-Con at Haunted Hillview Manor.
With no guest tonight, we three discussed various
Ghost Towns.
CC provided the Ghostdefinition.
Henry spoke about
Bodie,
California, and some of the
hauntings
therein.
He then spoke about
Garnet,
Montana, and some of its
activity.
CC brought up the Ukrainian
Chernobyl
disaster, and how over time it's been "taken over"
by animals and wildlife.
Henry and CC mentioned there having found a tenth planet in out own solar system,
beyond Pluto; no idea whether it's
Telos...
Henry spoke about the
haunted
(?) town of
Rhyolite,
near Death Valley.
Virginia City
Montana was discussed, and its haunted
Washoe Club.
CC spoke about haunted
Kennecott,
Alaska,
as well as
Poveglia Island/s,
off Venice, Island.
Henry mentioned
Gold Field,
Nevada
and the
Goldfield Hotel.
I spoke about the
Essex County Jail Annex
in North Caldwell, New Jersey, havng only just learned of it.
CC asked if I knew about
North Brother Islandm,
a quarantine island, north of Riker Island, at which
Typhoid Mary
was kept once she was diagnosed.
Henry spoke about many years ago his working with radioactive materials.
Somehow this segued into mentioning biohazmat suits, at which I spoke about
my work
on the
brilliant
immersive theater
the Tension Experience.
Henry spoke about
Cahawba,
Alabama.
CC discussed
Centralia
Pennsylvania, the
basis
for
Silent Hill video game
and
movies.
Henry brought up
San Francisco's
haunted
Quenn Anne hotel,
and
Alcatraz.
CC spoke about
Fukushima,
a near mirror event to Chernobyl.
Henry spoke about the
haunted
Portland
Pittcock Mansion,
still a
hotel.
Henry then spoke about sunny
Key West,
Ernest Hemingway's
home, and of course, the one and only
Robert the Doll,
of whom
I'm a fan...
As the clock ran dwn, Henry briefly brought up the
"partially"
abandoned
Land of Oz
theme park.
I ended up ending the show discussing such abandoned attractions with which I'd had firsthand experience, as they were Still Open when I was very young, including
the
insanely
dangerous
Action Park,
the drive-through
animal park
Jungle Habitat,
and
Gingerbread Castle,
to which
my family visited
also when it was open during my childhood.
I later learned it went
unsold on eBay,
but that eventually it was procured by some developer to restore it.
CC didn't declare it on the air, but after the show told Henry and me tonight we had listeners in US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and Unknown.
