Aokigahara: the Suicide Forest
Tonight (after referencing the recent Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Moana movies), and Ceiling Cat Barbara Duncan providing the Suicide Precention Hotline's 800-273-8255 number, and/or that one can text to 66746 for Help, our own Kat spoke about the infamous Japanese Aokigahara: the Suicide Forest, aka, the Sea of Trees.
Kat discussed its dimensions, what people generally Think of it, and Japanese cultural concepts of suicide. She indicated the ritualS involved to appease what spirits beckon people to come take their lives in the forest.
She discussed the legendary, almost cryptid-like Tengu creatures that have been sighted. There are also major landmarks there, apart from pleasant hot springs, there is the Narusawa Ice Cave, Fuji Fugaku Wind Cave, and the Hitoana Lava Cave.
CC reported our having listeners in the us, the UK, Canada, Singapore, abd "a ton of" Unknowns...
Henry asked about animals; Kat indicated wild dogs, cats, a form of raccoon-dog (Tanuki), crows, some bears, some boars but not many.
As upon which suicide as a cultural aspect was touched, Kat answered my inquiry regarding the distinctions between Harakiri and seppuku.
Kat discussed the age range of those who have taken their lives in the forest. She also posted on our show's Facebook page a documentary on the forest.
Henry conveyed our guest next week would be Cami Anderson of Haunting of Asylum 49.
