Working one of my favourite shows
Having come across
Rachel Bloom's
hilarious
dark and often twisted
music videos,
I'd watched and thoroughly enjoyed her new
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
sitcom since its pilot episode, and I was thrilled to work on it finally.
(Remember that I do not believe in providing storyline spoilers myself [such generally currently and/or eventually being readily available Elsewhere notwithstanding], in my report/s I only convey indications of where I can be seen.)
My
calling service
called me the night before, notifying me I would be playing Jewish Salesman #1
(this could have been missheard as jewelry salesman, but as story owner character clearly is Jewish, either word worked).
I called
Jeff Olan
for the details after 8pm for my 7:30am calltime and location.
For once I was thankful that over the weekend I'd neglected to furnish my Availability to my calling service, as I was scheduled to be a table-reader at Wednesday night's
We Make Movies
script reading night.
I've been a member with them for a couple of years, many of my short scripts being very well received, nased on the audience feedback
(considering I've watched equally and better writers getting coal-raked during their post-read feedback times).
Thankfully I was a reader with a character with but a few lines; the two scripts of mine currently in their queue have not yet been to the top.
That would be semi annoying as, I'd have to notify them I couldn't make it
(and whichever of the two scripts would return to the queue),
but as a Reader, once I knew my calltime, I could let me them know it was Probable I couldn't make it, as they do have alternate readers on stand by in case of actors having sudden bookings.
Asking whether a party had dice, my friend
Thom Rivera
actually had a
Day Player gig
on the show early on in its first season.
Our PA
Josh
conveyed this was the season finale: episode
118,
Paula Needs To Get Over Josh.
This was a quick gig: background in a jewelry store.
At the far end of the store, I may be visible, if soft-focused, with a couple in my age range, looking at rings.
The crew was super efficient and the scene was handled quickly.
We were wrapped at 2pm, giving me time to hit my rental box, at which time I learned they would be moving at the end of February
(thankfully two or three blocks north, so
only the building number
is changing,
from 4570 to 5160)
and, obviously, being able to make it to the We Make Movies script night.
