Shoot
I arrived in Pasadena at 8:30am, thirty minutes before the bank opened
(wanting to deposit most of my private-sector compensation for labour from my recent
previous project).
From there I walked down to Del Mar from Colorado Boulevard and Los Robles to basecamp behind the
Masonic Lodge at which was the set.
There were twelve of us, portraying members of the Continental Congress, but not, as we were told, regarding the Declaration of Independence.
The sketch was titled
1789,
and would be rather brief, probably not more than about three minutes in their sketch comedy show.
(Remember that I do
not
provide storyline spoilers myself
[such often currently and/or eventually being
readily available Elsewhere
notwithstanding];
in my report/s I generally convey indications of where most likely I can be seen.)
That being said, it's tough to synopsize a three minute sketch without storyline spoilers, but essentially it comes down to what it read in the callsheet:
"Congressman Peele has issues regarding the Second Amendment."
I had realized I had seen the vastly talented
Keegan Michael Key
on the
Carmenjello
episode of the slightly-twisted FX series
The League,
about which we spoke on the catered lunch queue.
At the end of the day he was kind enough to pose with me for a photo
(having been wrapped before I, he was out of his outfit by then).
I wish I'd remembered it was he in the sketch on which I worked for a
MadTV episode.
Jordan Peele
is an equally wide-range talent, and had quite a bit of fun in the scene.
Principal guest stars for the sketch were
Larry Joe Campbell
and
Madison Mason.
Considering our 9:30am calltime, initially I had expected it to be something of a Quick Day, but we shot until lunch,
after which some more, then the reverse angle.
Due to closer coverage, some of the background was released earlier than others; I was one of the last, and wrapped at 8:45pm, I was signed out at 9pm, catching the 9:15pm bus getting me back to Hollywood after 10pm.
It was established that all the sketches would be filmed and they would then figure out into which episodes each would go, so there was no way to know as yet as to when it might air.
Once it does
(and/or if it's available online or on DVD),
it should be "safe" for me to be able to make comment about it, without my considering same as a Spoiler.
