Previously on The Paranormal View...
Tonight's guest was the rescheduled Jeff Wamsley of the Mothman Festival, who, for the August 04th edition, just before showtime, Henry tried a few times but Jeff did not pick up. Trying again a half hour into the show, we had to write him off.
So that evening we spoke of Other Stuff amongst ourselves.
Jeff spoke of the first official sighting of the Mothman November 15 1966 in Point Pleasant; two young couples on the outskirts of town near a closed, former army base. Passing the base's north power plant they noticed a figure standing in the road in front of them. Once they were closer, it was clear the figure had red eyes and large wings affixed to and crossed behind its back. As the car approached, the figure rushed towards the power plant. They saw it again flying over the car; back in town she reported it to her boss as the police would think they were nuts. For the next year and a half there was over a hundred sightings, including daytime sightings.
Around the same time was a massive flap of UFO sightings.
Jeff spoke of the late author John Keel's famous book The Mothman Prophesies and author James W. Moseley also writing on the topic with The Silver Bridge.
The last "officials" sighting/s were in 1988-1989 or so. Soon after the first sightings, Men In Black began to show up at peoples' homes "suggesting" they not speak about the sightings, both Mothman and the UFOs. He spoke about Mary Hyre who wrote articles about the sightings, and found herself threatened by Men In Black, and how out of place they seemed when they appeared and wandered about. They also intimidated some of the UFO witnesses as well.
Henry asked after the Silver Bridge collapse. The bridge was 40+ years old, initially designed for horse and buggies, and collapsed on 15 December 1967 (13 months to the day of the first Mothman sighting), and the years of excess weight caused the collapse.
Henry pointed out we had listeners in the US, UK, France and Australia.
Jeff gave out his website, and Mothman Facebook page, et al.
I provided the show's various page locations (my hub page, the show's official site, that we're findable on on Facebook), et al; as Kat was absent she was not able to provide her website information.
