Jim O'Rear
Tonight's guest for our global listeners, and those in the live
chat room,
we had author
Jim O'Rear,
author of
Tennessee Ghosts,
amongst other titles.
My computer crashed moments before the show and I had to reboot to get back in, barely in time to do his bio introduction.
Jim started out about the
(rather unpublicized),
haunting/s at Graceland.
His book being about Tennessee, he discussed the
Bell Witch
story.
Jim addressed Henry's inquiry after the entity known as
Old Green Eyes
haunting Chickamauga Creek area, even that Cherokee Indians had its own
legends
about the entity.
Henry asked after Timmy, the Shadow Person named Timmy that lives in Jim's house.
Unsure whether Timmy followed Jim home from an investigation, but Timmy began making appearances as Jim began his book writing.
According to Jim's son, at night Timmy stands in Jim's son's closet and watches the boy sleep.
Henry asked about "Bob," a "nusaince" soldier ghost that Jim has encountered in Gallington, Tenn.
Friend Jeff Preston ran a three-story haunted-house attraction,
which ended up having lots of paranormal activity, mostly in the third floor:
door slams, foot stomps, lights switched off, water running, etc.
Jim spent time on the third floor, and became quite used to Bob moving about.
At one point Bob trudged downstairs and trashed some of the props.
On the other side of the coin, Jim spoke about an extremely
Mean Shadow Person from the mental ward of the
Old South Pittsburg Hospital,
described as about seven foot tall and resembles having horns.
Whatever it is, it literally scares the other hospital ghosts; Jim constantly calls it out to the point that other groups investigating get EVPs regarding Jim.
After the first break Barbara reported tonight we had listeners from the US, Ireland, Canada and Finland.
The most activity spot in Tennessee Jim indicated the
Old South Pittsburg Hospital
ranks up there; certainly some of the battlefields.
The
Carter House in Franklin
is rather active.
As to the most scariest place, Jim deemed that a relative term; he's experienced so much he really doesn't experience fear, as it were.
He spoke about the film he co-wrote,
The Hospital.
Jim has been to
Waverly,
but he's not really experienced as much as in the Pittsburg Hospital.
He went with
Celebrity Ghost Hunters,
along with some horror film actors, and they prefer going to the spot at which a haunted place's owners are the most freaked out.
As to Waverly, were directed to the lobby which freaks out
the Waverly owners.
Jim was first to sit alone in the dark in the lobby, along with a few static cameras set up.
He could hear footsteps and the fabric of a lab coat, and all the surrounding doors' knobs rattling violently.
Then, each of the cameras began to switch off, and more doorknob rattling and footsteps.
Gunnar Hansen
(of
Texas Chainsaw Massacre),
had the exact experience as well.
Chris Carnel
(of
My Bloody Valentine),
heard footsteps from behind, then the shinging sound of a sharp blade being unsheathed.
On investigations, Jim brings a camera, digital recorder and K2 meter.
Paul Browning
in on Jim's team, and the tech-geek has all sorts of Cool Stuff equipment.
After describing a cardboard box with a needle in it, resident genius CC simply said it was a
Iontopheresis machine.
I asked after Jim's narrative film
The Hospital,
which
he co-wrote;
it's a mixture of slasher and paranormal investigating.
Meawhile Skype was being very uncooperative with my aspect of the call.
We spoke his
Hollywood Paranormal Films: Fact & Fiction
book: What Really Happened as opposed to Hollywood's adaptations thereof.
Jim gave out his
website
and
Facebook;
As my aspect of the Skype call began to break down
I couldn't provide the show's various page locations
(my site's
Paranormal View hub page,
the show's
official site,
that we're findable
on Facebook,
et al);
I didn't realize until we were done that
Kat
gave out her
her website,
considering Henry "forgot" to suggest she provide it, as well as adding the
Relay for life Indiana Ghost Trackers Southeast Central Chapter team
event link, as I added to a few of the previous weeks' editions.
Henry pointed out the guest next week would be
Michael Rivers,
of
Ghosts of the North Carolina Shores.
