The ever-changing project
I arrived at 6am for the 6:30am calltime; the "continental breakfast" we'd been promised consisted of some bananas, and various donuts and croissants.
Still, it was a good day; by the end of which I had been told that the project was:
* public crowd-funding teaser video for a larger project,
* an introductory launch video for YouTube Studio channel,
* teaser video for private investors towards a larger project,
* a YouTube Studio in-house Safety Instruction Video for YouTube Studio users/clients.
Hmmm....
Initially my catagory was office worker, but I was selected to be one of the I.T. guys, and provided a black polo shirt to go with my own khaki pants.
As it was known I had to leave by "about 3pm," I was used first, along with an actor named Robert who never gave me his surname, as he too had to leave early.
As spokeman/narrator/video tour guide Eric passes our glass-walled work-area, Robert and I are shown to be working on demolishing computers.
When we were done, I asked if we could have a photo taken of Robert and me on set, preferably with Tim and/or Eric.
Tim seemed reticent of being photographed, while ironically with my new Smart Phone taking several photos of himself without realizing it, thinking he had mistakely turned on video instead of the still shots.
He and Eric began photo-dueling, working at getting shots of the other, creating photo-bombs.
While at first Eric was taking the photos, they traded cameras; mostly I got the shots Tim had taken.
Later we had a photo of them with Norma and me, but the guy who took it wasn't as good and it was blurry.
When they learned of this, Tim and Eric immediately had photos taken of me with them, a few of which containing some Eric tomfoolerly, with which I went
(amusingly, to Tim's annoyance).
Due to my Smart Phone, I was able to calculate the absolute latest I could risk staying would be 4pm.
Rico had earlier implied if I stayed longer, I would be paid fifty bucks.
Robert had left, and suddenly contracts were provided to the other I.T. guy characters, towards what originally sounded like a Please Stay reward had become an official Upgrade of sorts.
I filled out the paperwork the best I could, considering such generally reflects the signer as being a government worker, not a private-sector worker.
I left blank one form as to fill it out would not only be inaccurate, but infer upon me a false citizenship status.
To his credit, Rico is one of those becoming-rare people who is Awake, understanding law in a way many people are trained Not To Think.
He was aware I was within my rights not to fill out a non-applicable form, and let it pass without any challenge.
After another scene I thought would be my last
(for which, just before I depart the frame, I hit a keyboard Delete key),
I gave Tim my contact card for future reference.
Shortly thereafter Tim snagged me for one more bit, having noted on my card that I can Improv.
On a green-screen set we ran a couple or three takes with Tim, myself and a very lovely young lady named
Milana
(of the YouTube series
Live Prude Girls),
introducing the safety video.
Not exactly sure why Tim wanted me there as once in there, I was told at first not to speak.
I decided against this in the second take
(muttering agreement with Milana in the first take at something she said),
and in the third take, Tim ordered me off, as well as Milana.
Sadly, they didn't do a fourth take, which was a shame as I'd come up with the funny line to follow up on Tim's mentioning along the lines of injuries; I wanted to add it takes a really look time to get blood off a green-screen.
I managed to make it to the bus I needed, but goofed up at the connection, literally going south instead of north.
I was aghast I could be late as I hopped off and got the next northbound bus.
Thankfully it arrived far earlier than scheduled
(unless I'd caught a late bus that had uncharacteristically made up for its lost time),
and arrived at Mike's table-read event with fifteen minutes to spare.
