An easy weekday downtown
The previous afternoon I received word from my calling service I was booked for the next day via
Alice Ellis Casting
for an Intel commercial gig.
The information was received by email a little after 9pm, which supported my hypothesis that we would not be having an early calltime.
The near Culver City location was easy enough to which get, even more so with a 2pm calltime.
As I got to utilize the rather new Expo Line train from 7th Street Metro Station, I left a hiccough earlier than my scheduled times.
The last stop on the line
(Culver City),
was still not finished, so the second to last stop, La Cienega/Jefferson, was currently the final stop on the line... and the stop directly next to base camp and the location:
a brilliant warehouse-esque antique store called
Big Daddy Antiques.
Whilst waiting for wardrobe to approve us, I met
Joyce Lasley
who arrived pretty much at the same time as I, an hour early.
As most often happens, What I Was Wearing was perfect for wardrobe, rendering my bringing other shirts moot, again.
Much of the crew recognized and happily greeted Joyce, as many of them had work/ed a lot on
Glee,
several episodes on which Joyce often works as stand-in for
Jane Lynch.
The background was never really officially briefed on the commercial's storyline, but based on one or two inquiries,
(not all of)
the PAs weren't very up to speed on it either.
All I knew for sure was my recognizing
Oliver Muirhead
as one of the principals.
Lunch was from 3-4pm, as during the morning they'd been filming other scene/s for the spot with other background who were released.
Joyce and I wasn't even brought before the cameras before 7:30pm.
At some point in the spot
(if they use that shot),
as one of the female principals as a shop worker is asked by a customer about a matching chair,
I'm in the background looking at various Stuff, slowly zig-zagging in the aisle like Facebook's annoying Timeline layout;
as the female shop worker walks past me and out the back door.
At 8:30pm the rest of the background were signed out "at" 8:45.
The friendly and otherwise efficient
Bola
had not collected our paperwork earlier so as to photocopy our commercial-vouchers
(which are different than TV/Theatrical vouchers),
so we had to wait a couple of minutes for that to be done so we'd have our copies of our paperwork.
More when the commercial begins to air...
