The To-Do List
The To-Do List

Monday July 25, 2011
Booked
Coming out of the cinema, I found I had a voice mail from my calling service, notifying me that via Vanessa at Creative Extras Casting I was booked on a project called The To-Do List
At first I misheard it, as though I "was on the to-do list" for the next day, not that The To-Do List was the project's title, my previously being unaware of the Maggie Carey written and directed project, starring Rachel Bilson.
The calltime was to be 10am, and location would be on the recording hotline after 7pm.
Doing my regular initial research, the comedy was written and being directed by Maggie Carey.
It was reported via IMDB that The To-Do List performer Alia Shawkat had "just began" working on the rom-com Ruby Sparks, the previous week two days on which I'd worked (at the time of this entry Ruby Sparks was still titled He Loves Me).
The promotional grass-roots movement of The To-Do List had pages for it on Facebook and on Twitter already.
I got the information from the recorded hotline, clarifyingly specific that the crew and background parking would be on Formosa, at Melrose. Knowing I was playing a Movie Goer, I correctly suspected it would be at the art deco Regent Showcase Theatre.

Tuesday July 26
A quick, long day
I arrived at Melrose around 9:10am, and to my surprise, the specific address provided had not the slightest indication of any parking; no TDL signage to point one in the right direction. I tried calling the emergency number Vanessa had on the info recording, with no positive result. Even my calling service was not picking up their phone/s. By 9:30am I was becoming concerned, but just as I figured to walk over to the movie theatre and clarify it was the shoot spot, I was called over to the car of Lisa, with whom I'd previously worked.
Lisa had come to the same conclusion: the parking information was wrong. We went to the theatre and one of the PAs told me parking was at Formosa at Willoughby, not even really close to the address with which the background performers had been provided. Thankfully even getting there and shuttled back to production, Lisa and I arrived by 9:50am.
We ended up at wardrobe and met with the PA who'd be our wrangler for the day. We were given our vouchers; we had enough time to get onto them our names for wardrobe to hang onto them whilst giving us some good 1970s clothing. They liked my blue shirt, which would be my Second Change.
Another bright aspect of the day was being coming across by Scott Brown: close to five years earlier Scott had directed me in his USC student film Routine. We were able to catch up; for this project he was doing their EPK, which could also include but not be limited to Bonus Features for the film's DVD. Scott told me that Michelle, the lead in Routine, had become quite popular overseas on some sort of foreign webisode series.

(Remember that I do not believe in providing storyline spoilers myself [such generally currently and/or eventually being readily available Elsewhere notwithstanding], in my report/s I only convey indications of where I can be seen.)

Actors on set for the day would include Aubrey Plaza and Johnny Simmons, as well as D'arcy Carden and Avengers movie franchise series actor Clark Gregg. As previously indicated, with my being a Movie Goer, and the location... the scene/s which were shot this date were set in the theatre. In the auditorium it is possible I could be visible, but my most probable visibility would be as Aubrey Plaza and Johnny Simmons meet up in the lobby at the concession stand. As I consider what munchies to obtain, I stand directly behind them, along with a woman with whom I'd been paired.
The day ran by surprisingly fast, our being wrapping at 10pm (what with the half hour lunch), giving us 3.5 hours overtime.

Shoved
Updating my countdown page, I happened to check on The To-Do List, learning the release date had been pushed farther into the year, to August 16 2013, though its imdb entry had available the film's Red Band Trailer in which it's still mentioned as a "Valentine's Day movie."

Updated Release Date
Whilst watching The Bachelorette, a new trailer for The To-Do List aired, conveying the new July 26 2013 release date.

Viewing
I went up to the AMC Universal Citywalk Stadium 19 to see the film, which was pretty funny (the glorification of hard drug use and [for an otherwise "raunchy" sex comedy] lack of actual nudity notwithstanding).
Surprisingly, I am somewhat blurringly visible in the auditorium scene. However, the lobby scene was not included, but probably was for pacing and such. I set the film to my Netflix queue to see if its DVD has deleted scenes.
