What I am now able to say
(thanks, First Amendment!)...
(Remember that I do not believe in providing storyline spoilers myself [such generally currently being readily available Elsewhere notwithstanding], I only convey indications of where I can be seen.)
I got a call the day before to work the next day on
The Social Network,
in holding of which we signed NDA's
(Non-Disclosure Agreements),
that we would not reveal anything about the film's storyline, etc.
(as though I would).
Technically this only makes sense prior to the film's 2010 release date,
and as it is, there is already
considerable
information and background available online, etc.
(plus there is zero "irreparable harm" regarding my conveying that I had worked background on it).
Ironically if not hypocritically, the
film's own director
has posted at his Facebook profile behind the scenes photos already...
As I
do not believe in providing storyline spoilers myself, only conveying indications of where I can be seen,
I did not even reveal the film's
title
until the film's theatrical trailer was available online.
At that time I was "able" to put up the film's Actual Title, etc.
(I considered even embedding the trailer to promote it, but understandably I have no reason to),
even though quite a lot of information on this feature was already public knowledge even at the time of my shooting date.
That all said... it is unlikely I will be easy to spot in the single scene that was shot this day.
Not impossible perhaps, but maybe a bit tricky.
Being early as always notwithstanding, my 8:30am calltime "became" 8:45am when I checked in.
Lunch was a few minutes late, but "grace" was called, so the SAG actors got stiffed from a meal penalty.
However, I was held long enough for a bit of overtime, and I did get a wardrobe bump for their letting me wear my own brought
professor'esque suit,
outfit,
which the wardrobe ladies thought was absolutely perfect
(I also got a nice li'l hair trim).
The recorded information hotline the night before emphasized we be there On Time and Camera Ready at our calltime...
and as with 99% of such instructions, we weren't even brought to set before 10am.
The scene involves a speech given by Bill Gates, a non-actor look-alike was employed, barely able to follow
director
David Fincher's
directions.
Back in holding it was suspected that a voice-over would be used who can actually do a good Bill Gates voice impression.
Playing a faculty member, I sat along the back wall:
in the wide shot the first shot/s of which they started filming, I'd be screen right to the middle door
(nearest the door).
After about one or two hours, they went for coverage shots, and the back row was not utilized.
A great lunch, and just around the eight hour mark, those in the front rows slowly began getting wrapped.
Literally into overtime, we of the back row were brought back in,
even though rather quickly it was obvious that the camera was at a 45 degree angle to our position;
the camera was not even close to facing the back of the room.
Before we were placed in our seats, I did notice
Jesse Eisenberg
waiting to be placed in his seat.
We sat in the back row "uselessly" for about an hour, and then the day was wrapped.
We were wrapped at 8:12, to give us enough time to get back to our cars.
In my case, I quickly walked down to Ocean Avenue caught the 333 to Hoover
to catch the 200 south to USC for a student film audition,
which ironically already was scheduled for 9:30pm.
I had stayed in touch with its director on the chance I could make it, and made it with about five minutes to spare.
