Yesterday, Saturday October 2nd was the first (annual<\/font>?<\/font>) SoCal ParaCon<\/a>,<\/strong> at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Originally the venue was to be at a haunted closed-penitentiary, but the short-sighted fools there didn’t want the place to be advertized as being<\/em> possibly haunted. Thankfully, as Lorie<\/a><\/strong> discovered, the Convention Center was far better.
\nPara-publicist<\/a><\/strong> and investigator Donn Shy<\/a><\/strong> had notified me that an entrance ticket for me had been procurred by Jeannette Osborne<\/a>,<\/strong> so I was able to attend. As currently I am dog-sitting whilst my roommate is out of town, I was able to attend the event but not the evening investigations, which were not only the then to-date uninvestigated Museum of Death<\/a><\/strong> on Hollywood Boulevard, and the famously haunted Linda Vista Hospital<\/a>!<\/strong>
\nVarious friends I’ve previously met online and at Donn Shy’s Queen Mary event<\/a><\/strong> were in attendance: Dianne Rule<\/a>, Vici and Joe Ruffulo<\/a>, Victoria K and Suzanne Stromin<\/a>, Scott Gruenwald<\/a><\/strong> and Matthew Goldman<\/a><\/strong> of the The Paranormal STU<\/a><\/strong> (though I kept forgetting to ask Scott as to why Terry Campbell<\/a><\/strong> was absent<\/font>), Jessica Johnson<\/a><\/strong> (who I met the night Lorie’s group went through the aforementioned unnamed penitentiary to see if it would fit the needs for the event<\/font>).
\nJymie Darling<\/a><\/strong> of Panpipes<\/a><\/strong> (where we filmed my Man-Away<\/a><\/strong> short film I wrote<\/font>), not only had a Panpipes<\/a><\/strong> booth, but was streaming live<\/a><\/strong> for her Occultist Radio<\/a><\/strong> show on ParaQuest Radio Network<\/a>.<\/strong>
\nLorie’s husband Daz<\/a><\/strong> and I spoke about various places, as well as my wondering how Debby and Mark Constantino<\/a><\/strong> were not speakers at the event.
\nOther speakers included (though not limited to<\/font>): psychics Tuesday Miles<\/a><\/strong> and Mark Nelson<\/a>; Marti and Michael Parry<\/a>; Rex Williams<\/a><\/strong> apparently of the Siffee series Destination Truth<\/a><\/strong> (the show’s official site making no mention of him notwithstanding<\/font>); demonologist Thomas Durant<\/a><\/strong> (who I saw speak before\/at a preview screening of the Huck Botko<\/a><\/strong> film The Last Exorcism<\/a><\/strong> and<\/em> an eventual investigation with whom I won as part of the event’s raffle<\/font>); and Christopher Saint Booth<\/a><\/strong> understandably promoting his THE HAUNTED BOY<\/a>–The Secret Diary Of The Exorcist<\/a><\/strong> DVD which was released the same day.
\nAll in all I’d say the event was a complete success. I look forward to hearing how went the evening investigations.<\/p>\n
